Brands Hatch

Brands Hatch, West Kingsdown

Brands Hatch racing circuit is one of Britain’s famous motor racing tracks and it is a short walk from the centre of West Kingsdown to the entrance gates. The circuit started out in 1926 as a grass track for bike riding and the first race was held there in 1928 - a competition between competitors riding bicycles and cross-country runners. Since then the track has hosted F1 racing (1964-1986) and continues to run major motor sport events during the year. In 2012 Brands Hatch was the venue for the Paralympic Games road cycling.

The house is about 10 miles south of the village.

Leeds Castle aerial

Leeds Castle lies southeast of West Kingsdown, around 20 miles down the M20 to junction 8. The castle has a history going back to the Doomsday Book and has been the home of queens of England, including Henry the Eighth’s first wife, Catherine of Aragon. In 1974 the then owner, Lady Bailliee, bequeathed the property and 500 acre grounds to a charitable foundation. It is open to the public throughout the year.
